Chaishpish (reign circa 675BC-640BC)

Chaishpish (Teispes)was the son of Anshan, and a common ancestor to both Kuroush and Darayavaush. He moved south of his father's kingdom and conquered Anshan, taking the title king of Anshan. While their Chaishpish aligned himself with Elam against Assyria. For that reason when Elam was sacked in 646BC Kuroush I, then ruler of Anshan, was forced to submit to Assyrian overlordship as a vassal state and pay tribute. Chaishpish began developing the infrastructure of Anshan and surrounding regions which was to become the power base of Kuroush II the great. Chaishpish's descendants broke into two lines. One which was to rule in Anshan until Kuroush II the great. Another line was to branch off and rule other parts of Iran until Darayavaush.
